PRIVACY POLICY

INFN is structured on the Italian territory into 20 Divisions, which are located in University Departments and provide a direct connection between the Institute and the Universities, 4 National Laboratories - in Catania, Frascati, Legnaro and Gran Sasso — house major facilities and infrastructures which are available to the national and international scientific community and 3 National Centers dedicated, respectively, to the research of innovative digital technologies (CNAF), to the high international training (GSSI) and to the research of particle physics for the development of advanced technologies (TIFPA). The INFN workforce includes about 1,800 of its own employees, almost 2,000 university employees involved in its research projects, and 1,300 young researchers, including undergraduate and graduate students and research fellows. This information is provided pursuant to art. 13 of Italian Legislative Decree No. 196 of 30th June 2003, for those interacting with web services of the Italian Institute for Nuclear Physics which can be accessed from a computer at the address of infn.it. The INFN will only process personal data for purposes instrumental to carrying out its activity. This information is provided exclusively for the INFN website and not for any other website which may be consulted by users via the links.

PROCESSING METHOD

In accordance with the Provisions of Standards for the processing of personal data INFN Personal data are processed legally and fairly, using automated instruments for the time strictly necessary to achieve the purposes for which they are collected. Data are processed in accordance with art. 11 and in consideration of art. 100 of Italian Legislative Decree No. 196/03. Specific security measures are observed to prevent the loss of data, their unlawful or incorrect use and unauthorised access.

PARTIES RESPONSIBLE FOR CONTROLLING AND PROCESSING DATA

The Data Controller is the Italian Institute for Nuclear Physics, Via E. Fermi, 40, Frascati, Rome (Italy). The parties responsible for processing data are those specified by INFN Executive Board Resolution No. 8335/03.

TYPES OF DATA BROWSING DATA.

The information technology systems and the software procedures for operation of the website acquire, as part of their normal functions, various items of personal data of which the transmission is implicit in the use of internet communications protocols. This information is not gathered in order to be linked to identified parties, but by its very nature it could, through processing and combination with data held by third parties, enable the identification of users. These data are used solely for the purposes of gathering anonymous statistical information on use of the website and to monitor its correct operation. Data may be used to ascertain liability in the event of potential information technology offences or actions committed to the detriment of the website; except for this eventuality, data on website contacts are not currently archived for longer than is necessary to carry out the controls in order to ensure the constant security of the system.
