On 4 October, the new Laboratory of Interferometry and Quantum Optics for gravitational waves of the University of Trento was officially opened. The lab was set up in collaboration with INFN. It is a research laboratory for hosting projects dedicated to observing space from Earth. The lab's goal is to improve the sensitivity of interferometry detectors of gravitational waves to assist large international projects like Ligo, Virgo, and Kagra, and for the construction of the Einstein Telescope - the future, new-generation underground European observatory that Italy has applied to host in Sardinia.
