From 7 to 16 of July “The Wonders of Physics in Bologna” will take place in Bologna. This is a program of outreach events, dedicated to physics, to engage children and adults in the wonders of research and scientific culture. The event is organized for the 41st International Conference on High Energy Physics (ICHEP), hosted for the first time in Italy, in Bologna, on 6-13 July.
The events will deal with science, philosophy and literature, and there will also be art and science exhibitions, installations and theatre performances. And in the heart of the city, Piazza Maggiore will host “A step away from the Big Bang. The new physics after the Higgs boson”, a conference show, led by Serena Dandini, where the future of physics will be told by the protagonists of one of the most important discoveries of the century, the discovery of the Higgs boson, whose 10th anniversary is being celebrated this year. HIGGS10: CELEBRATIONS OPEN
To celebrate 10 years from the announcement of the discovery of the Higgs boson, the INFN community is taking part in the celebrations with several events, collected on a dedicated website. On July 4, INFN social media pages published a video with the memories of the discovery told by INFN researchers who took part in it, while on July 5, CERN's event dedicated to the new LHC collisions was broadcasted on INFN YouTube channel. To mark the 10-year anniversary, the first episode of the podcast "Traces. Lexicon of a Discovery" was published. The podcast, starting with everyday words that are also present in the language of physics, will recount the discovery of the Higgs boson in a series of episodes released over the summer. The celebrations will continue until the end of 2022 with other events and initiatives: find out more on higgs10.infn.it.
