Promoting industrial development by strengthening research activity within Italian companies, to encourage the development of innovative projects: this is the goal of the memorandum of understanding signed between INFN and Cassa Depositi e Prestiti (CDP). The collaboration will allow INFN to grasp the opportunities offered by the InvestEU Programme, including within their programme: Research for Innovation (R4I). In doing so, it will rely on the support of CDP in its role of Advisory Partner of the European Commission as part of the Consultancy Hub promoted by the European Union. CDP will provide consultancy to INFN, especially in four macro-areas. The first involves analysing technologies and processes developed by INFN in the area of technology transfer, as well as defining the priorities for the most advanced, scientific Proofs of Concept (to demonstrate the feasibility of a product, service, or work process) for potential commercial development, according to feasibility analyses. The second consists in assessing the project groups’ expertise for the POCs selected and doing a gap analysis for their implementation in relation to the sector’s reference standards. The third involves implementing strategic framework activities for the market potential of the scientific research of individual groups active in the projects. The fourth consists in promoting and developing partnerships aimed at spreading the technologies developed in certain industrial supply chains. The collaboration between INFN and CDP will last until at least the end of 2024.
